HFS! Kaboom!

This is the largest nuclear bomb ever tested. 57 megatons. October 30, 1961.

Damninteresting.com has a moderately interesting article about it. Since it was demontrated more for propaganda purposes than for any actual military purpose, it was too big to fit into the bomb bay of any bomber available at the time. They had to specially modify one, and then attach a parachute to the bomb to let the bomber get out of range. If you stood 100 km away from the blast you would have got third-degree burns.

This qualifies as hfs-worthy.
